Heart failure and cerebral ischemia

چکیده

Heart failure patients may have impaired cerebral autoregulation and regional blood flow abnormalities. Predisposition to thromboembolic complications occur because of dilated chambers abnormal flow, vessel/chamber lining particles in heart patients. Epidemiological clinical studies document an increased rate failure. Well known/accepted indications oral anticoagulation therapy prevent events are co-existence atrial fibrillation/flutter, intracardiac thrombi a history event. Other than coronary artery disease failure, antiplatelet agents should not be used ischemic stroke. How who treat/prevent event with sinus rhythm is hot topic. Up date, treatment anticoagulant agents-mainly warfarin recently rivaroxaban vs or placebo could meet their primary outcome related morbidity/mortality. In some these studies, decreased strokes were offset by major hemorrhage.

Targets in Ischemia and Heart Failure?

Purinergic1 receptors were initially conceived to describe the likely existence of membrane receptors responding to adenosine triphosphate (ATP) (P2 receptors) or its breakdown product adenosine (P1 receptors) in causing nonadrenergic, noncholinergic relaxation of gut smooth muscle.1 Cloning of these receptors has yielded insights into their properties and signaling mechanisms, allowing classif...

Heart Failure Genetic and Pharmacologic Hydrogen Sulfide Therapy Attenuates Ischemia-Induced Heart Failure in Mice

Background—Hydrogen sulfide (H 2 S) is an endogenous signaling molecule with potent cytoprotective effects. The present study evaluated the therapeutic potential of H 2 S in murine models of heart failure. Methods and Results—Heart failure was induced by subjecting mice either to permanent ligation of the left coronary artery for 4 weeks or to 60 minutes of left coronary artery occlusion follow...

Liver ischemia preconditions the heart against ischemia-reperfusion arrhythmias

Objective(s):This study aimed to examine the hypothesis that an antiarrhythmic effect might be obtained by ischemic preconditioning of the liver, and also to characterize the potential underlying mechanisms. Materials and Methods: Male Wistar rats were anesthetized by thiopental sodium (50 mg/kg, IP) followed by IV injection of heparin (250 IU). Remote ischemic preconditioning (RIPC) was induce...

Cerebral blood flow and neurological change in chronic heart failure.

In their article in this issue of Stroke, Gruhn et al report that cerebral blood flow (CBF) is reduced about 30% in patients with NYHA III/IV heart failure but has normalized when retested in 5 subjects 30 days after successful heart transplantation. The authors suggest that (1) the reduced CBF found before transplantation is responsible for neurological signs and symptoms reported in patients ...
